THERMAL EXPANSION OF AMMONIUM BROMIDE, RUBIDIUM BROMIDE AND RUBIDIUM CHLORIDE

Journal Article · · Acta Cryst.
The lattice constants of ammonium bromide. rubidium bromide. and nubidium chloride were determined accurately at different temperatures. using a back-reflection camera. and the coefficients of thermal expansion were evaluated. The lattice constants of the three compounds at 20 deg C are of expansion of ammonium bromide and rubidium bromide vary parabolically with temperature according to the equations alpha = 58.96x lO/sup -6/ -11.98 x lO/sup -8/T + 35.00 x 10/sup -10/ >sT/sup 2/ and alpha = 3S.00 x lO/sup -6/ - 1.54x l0/sup -8/ T + 4.13x 10/sup -10/T< s2>s respectively. The lattice constant of nubidium chloride increases linearly with temperature and the mean coefficient of expansion for the range of temperature 20 to 190 deg C is 38.13 x lO/sup -6// deg C. (auth)
