Phase diagrams were studied crystallographically on tempered products. Two regions of homogeneity were characterized. The first, a cubic phase of the Th/sub 3/P/sub 4/ type, is stable oniy at ligh temperature and has a eutectoid point at t = 980 deg C for the composition Y/sub 2/S/sub 3/-0.47 CaS. The second phase is cubic of the NaCl type near the calcium sulfide. Two varisties correspond to the formuia CaY/sub 2/S/sub 3/, one of which is orthorhombic of the Yb/sub 3/S/sub 4/ type and is stable up to 1110 deg C. The fusion curwe was constructed for the compositions richer in Y/sub 2/S/sub 3/. (tr-auth)
