PRESSURIZED WATER REACTOR WITH SUPER-HEATING

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4031425
A pressurized-water reactor comprises two separate cooling circuits transferring heat from these circuits by heat exchange to a working fluid circulating successively in the two heat exchangers. In one of the circuits pressurized water circulates; in the other steam is superheated. Each circuit incorporates tubes including nuclear fuel elements. Preferably, the tubes of a circuit may be arranged parallel and connected together at their ends by headers. The superheating circuit suitably comprises tubes closed at their lower ends, each enclosing another concentric tube in which the fuel elements are placed. The steam passes down the annular spaces between these tubes and then rises inside the inner tubes. (NPO)
