Effects of final-state charge exchange in the ($pi$$,$$pi$N) reaction on nickel targets

It is shown that the ratios of one-nucleon-removal cross sections by $pi$$sup +$ and $pi$$sup -$ recently measured for $sup 58$Ni and $sup 60$Ni targets are in resonable agreement with the Sternheim-Silbar modified impulse approximation that incorporates final-state-nucleon charge exchange. (AIP)
