The unresolved ($pi$, $pi$N) puzzle

The importance of charge-exchange interactions of nucleons within the nucleus following ($pi$, $pi$N) reactions as proposed recently by Sternheim and Silbar may be quantitatively appraised. An experiment datum already exists which contradicts the hypothesis that charge exchange is so influential. (AIP)
