ELASTIC SCATTERING OF 1.25 MEV $gamma$ RAYS IN LEAD (in Italian)

Journal Article · · Nuovo Cimento (Italy) Divided into Nuovo Cimento A and Nuovo Cimento B
OSTI ID:4030753
The degree of transverse polarization of the radiation from a Co/sup 60/ source, elastically scattered by a lead target, was measured at various angles. Experimental results are shown. A comparison was made between these and the theoretical predictions for the contribution of the Thomson and Rayleigh effects. Amplitudes calculated for K electrons by Brown and Mayers were used. For an accurate test of the theoretical situation by means of the experimental results, refined calculations of L-shell contribution to Rayleigh scattering are needed. (auth)
