DECELERATION AND INELASTIC SCATTERING OF ELECTRONS IN THIN UNSUPPORTED FILMS OF COPPER

Journal Article · · Soviet Phys.-Solid State (English Transl.)
OSTI ID:4028459
A study is made simultaneously of the transmission and scattering of electrons in thin unsupported films of copper for initial electron energies from 2 to 15 kev. The obtained data on absorption of electrons show that in the energy range investigated, absorption of electrons takes place over a wide range of thicknesses. A relation between the maximum penetration range of electrons and their energies is obtained. The result of the study of the thickness dependence of the inelastic scattering in thin unsupported films of copper shows that the participation of layers in the scattering is not uniform. (auth)
