BRANCHING RATIO OF $gamma$ AND $beta$ EMISSIONS FROM $sup 212$Bi(ThC)

Semiconductor counters, which have good efficiency and energy resolution, were used to measure the Bi/sup 212/ branching ratio. The measurement was made by comparison of the intensity of the low-energy (<7 Mev) Bi/ sup 212/ alphas with that of the high-energy (<7 Mev) alphas coming from Po/sup 212/ produced by beta -decay of Bi/sup 212/. The average of 8 runs gave alpha / ( alpha + beta ) = 0.358 beta 0.001. (auth)
