THE NEW NUCLIDE HOLMIUM-169

Journal Article · · Nuclear Physics (Netherlands) Divided into Nucl. Phys. A and Nucl. Phys. B
Holmium-169 was produced from the /sup 170/Er( gamma ,p) reaction with 21 Mev bremsstrahlung. The radiations from the irradinted sample were measured with beta- and gamma-ray scintillation spectrometers. The half life of this new nucleide was determined to be T/sub 1/2/ = 4.8 plus or minus 0.1 min. Two betaray components were identified with end-point energies of 1.95 and 1.20 Mev. The log ft values for these components were 6.1 and 4.7, respectively. Many gamma rays were also found. A decay scheme was proposed. Analyses were made with the aid of the Nilsson model. (auth)
