COULOMB EXCITATION OF Se$sup 1$$sup 7$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
The 240- and 442-kev levels in Se/sup 77/ were excited with 4.0-Mev protons and 3.5-Mev deuterons, and the scattered particles were observed at angles of 150 deg and 145 deg , respectively. They were studied with a magnetic analyzer and detected by photographic plates. The B (E2) values which were obtained were 0.17 plus or minus 0.02 and 0.26 plus or minus 0.03 for the 240and 442-kev levels, respectively. The ratio of these B (E2) values, 1.5 plus or minus 0.2, is in good agreement with the ratio of 1.5 which is predicted by the unified model for rotational states and spin assignments (1/2, 3/2, 5/2) for the ground, 240and 442-kev states.
