IONIZATION OF SINGLE CHARGED IONS AND ATOMS OF Ne AND Kr BY COLLISION WITH INERT GAS ATOMS (in Russian)
The total cross sections of free electron sigma /sub -/ and slow secondary ion sigma /sub +/ production in single collisions of Ne/sup +/ and K/ sup +/ and Ne/sup 0/ and Kr/sup 0/ with the atoms of inert gases were measured at 3 to 30 kev. The obtained data were used to determine total cross sections for electron capture by ions sigma /sub 0/0 and cross sections for atom stripping sigma /sub 1/i. According to Firsov's theory the sigma /sup -/ cross section does not depend on the charge of the initial particle. A relatively small difference found in sigma /sub -/ for ion-atom and atom-atom collisions is related to the individual properties of the interacting particles. The total cross sections of free electron production and atom stripping reach their maximum for collisions between like atoms. (Ne/sup 0/-- Ne, Kr/sup 0/-- Kr). (tr-auth)
