  1. TU Electric, Dallas, TX (United States)

TU Electric, in a Tailored Collaboration (T/C) with EPRI, conducted a pilot project at three fossil plants to determine the cost effectiveness of a Streamlined Reliability Centered Maintenance (SRCM) analysis. A total of ten systems were identified for evaluation at the three fossil plants. Three years of maintenance activities for these systems were identified and categorized as preventive (PM), predictive (PDM), corrective or proactive. A new maintenance plan was developed for each system as a result of the SRCM process. In general, new predictive maintenance PMs were added to the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database and non-critical routine preventive maintenance PMs were eliminated. The final SRCM analysis resulted in approximately 7600 preventive maintenance man-hours, valued at nearly $230,000, that were identified for reallocation at the discretion of plant management.
