THE VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF THE MOTION OF RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES IN INACCESSIBLE SPACES (in German)

The application of radioactive isotopes in research and industry has influenced the entire electronic counting technique to a great extent within the last few years and had led to the development of a number of completely new counting methods. In particular, the case should be considered when the motion of solid, liquid, or gaseous substances is to be observed in inaccessible spaces. For this purpose, the substance to be observed is labeled with a certain radioactive isotope, the radiation of which is measured at an easily accessible spot. With the aid of an electronic method especially designed for this purpose, the space-time distribution of the activity A = A(x,y,z,t) is shown on a visual apparatus. The selection of isotopes is determined by the case under consideration, but in most cases gamma rays are used. (auth)
