CONSTRUCTION OF A SPARK CHAMBER WITH TRANSPARENT METAL MESH (in French)

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods

Spark chamber elements have been constructed using highly transparent wire mesh electrodes. The transparency of the electrodes permits photography of sparks through several elements. These can therefore be assembled into multi- element spark chambers in which a single photograph sufflces to localize a particle track. Chambers based on this principle using up to four elements and ranging in size up to several square meters have been made and tested under different conditions. Performance data are given. (auth)
