MOLECULAR PLATING. I. A RAPID AND QUANTITATIVE METHOD FOR THE ELECTRODEPOSITION OF THORIUM AND URANIUM

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods
A method that has been used for the electrodeposition of thin and uniform inorganic films is considered. The results obtained from an investigation dealing with the possibility of employing this particular method for the quantitative preparation of thorium and uranium samples are reported. Parameters principally investigated have been the voltagecurrent-time dependence, and influence of solution, cathode material, and pH. Photomicrographs are presented showing that thin film uniformity comparable to that obtainable by vacuum deposition can be simply and rapidly achieved. In conclusion the general principles of the method are discussed, and its possible application to the preparation of other elements put forward. (auth)
