MOLECULAR PLATING. II. A RAPID AND QUANTITATIVE METHOD FOR THE ELECTRODEPOSITION OF THE RARE-EARTH ELEMENTS

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods
The rapid and quantitative electrodeposition of the rareearth elements cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, tetrbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, and ytterbium by means of molecular plating is discussed. Apart from the rapid and quantitative nature of the described method a number of other advantages are also offered, such as the excellent uniformity of the deposited material, good adhesion to the cathode, which may take the form of aluminum, copper, silver, etc., and the simplicity of the method. The results of the investigation are summarized in table form, together with curves illustrating sample uniformity obtained under various conditions. In conclusion the general principles of the method are discussed. (auth)
