Calculation of electroexcitation cross sections in $sup 12$C by a continuum shell model

Electroexcitation of $sup 12$C in the giant multipole resonance region is studied using the methods of nuclear reaction theory. The importance of using orthogonalized wave functions for calculations of differential cross sections is pointed out, especially for monopole excitations. (AIP)
