ON THE DECAY OF THE Tc$sup 95$ ISOMER

The gamma -ray spectrum following the radioactive decay of Tc/sup 9// sup 5/ is investigated by scintillation techniques. The sources are obtained by Mo/sup 9//sup 5/(d,2n) reactions. The measurements are performed with a Nal(Tl) well type crystal (76 mm x 76 mm) and the different spectra are displayed in a 200 channel analyzer. gamma - gamma cascades are investigated with a conventional coincidence arrangement, using the summing technique. The direct disintegration of the isomeric state of Tc/sup 9//sup 5/ to stable Mo/sup 9//sup 5/, in competition with the 39 kev isomeric transition to the Tc/sup 9//sup 5/ ground state, is confirmed. Excited levels of 1040, 820, 780, and 203 kev are assigned to the Mo/sup 9//sup 5/ structure, de-exciting mostly with the following transitions, in kev: 1040 (5 plus or minus 1), 838 (38 plus or minus 4), 820 (13 plus or minus 2), 780 (17 plus or minus 2), 580 (50 plus or minus 5), and 203 (100).
