INVESTIGATION OF ENERGY LEVELS OF Eu$sup 147$, Eu$sup 149$, AND Eu$sup 15$$sup 1$ (in Russian)

A double scintillation coincidence spectrometer was used in investigating Eu/sup 1//sup 4//sup 7/, Eu/sup 1//sup 4//sup 9/, and Eu/sup 1//sup 5//sup 1/. It is assumed that all three nuclides have h/sub 11/2/ levels which initiate M-2 transitions and also E-3 transitions in Eu/sup 1//sup 4//sup 7/ and Eu/sup 1//sup 4//sup 9/. The Gd frac tion separated from Ta target bombarded by 660-Mev protons was used as the source. Gamma quanta of 230, 380(370 to were observed in the Cd/sup 1//sup 4//sup 7/ spectrum. The coincidence spectrum for the Gd/sup 1//sup 4//sup 7/ 230 kev quanta and the spectrum of retarded coincidences for the Gd/sup 1//sup 4//sup 7/ 625 kev quanta are plotted. The 625 kev energy is isomeric with T/sub 1/2/, = (7.1 plus or minus 0.4) x 10/sup -// sup 7/ sec. The 230, 400, and 625 kev quanta coincide with 370 and 930 kev quanta, and possibly with 510 and 570 kev. The decay scheme of Eu/sup 1//sup 4// sup 7/ based on the data is in agreement with published data. The gamma quanta for Cd/sup 1//sup 4//sup 9/ are in agreement with previous data. The spectra of instantaneous and retarded coincidences for the Gd/sup 1//sup 4//sup 9/ 150-kev quanta are developed, and it ts shown that the 150, 350, and 500 kev quanta coincide with the 300 kev quanta. It is confirmed that the 496 kev level is isomeric with T/sub 1/2/ (2.48 plus or minus 0.05) X 10/sup -//sup 6/ sec. The spectra of delayed coincidences for the Gd/sup 1//sup 5//sup 1/ 300 and 175 kev quanta show that the 175 kev quanta coincide with the 155 kev. Coincidences for the 243 kev quanta were not observed; the transition for the 243 kev was not found in the 175-kev cascade. (R.V.J.)
