Molybdenum fission products from uranium were rapidly separated using a sublimation technique. Their technetium daughters could be separated from the molybdenum sample by a second sublimation. The decay of /sup 103/Tc, /sup 104/ Tc, and /sup 105/Tc was investigated using scintillation counters and coincidence methods. /sup 103/Tc decays by the emission of two BETA groups at energies of 2.0 and 2.2 Mev followed by gamma lines of 135, 215, and 350 kev. According to a proposed decay scheme /sup 103/Tc decays with a Q-value of 2.35 plus or minus 0.10 Mev into /sup 103/Ru. /sup 105/Tc emits a BETA group of about 3.4 Mev maximum energy followed by a 110 kev gamma transition. The Qvalue of the /sup 105/Tc decay was estimated to be 3.4 plus or minus 0.2 Mev. From BETA - gamma and gamma - gamma coincidence spectra of /sup 104/Tc four BETA - gamma - gamma cascades could be identified, which populate excited states of 0.36, 0.89, 2.5, 3.5, and 4.05 Mev in /sup 104/Ru. The Q-value of the /sup 104/Tc decay was found to be 5.85 plus or minus 0.10 Mev. The Q-values and spin assignments of the ground states of /sup 103/Tc and /sup 105/Tc are discussed in a more detailed BETA decay system. (auth)
