Magnetic shielding by a magnetic material or a highly conductive material is one of several effective ways to reduce power frequency magnetic fields. This paper presents an approach to estimate the electromagnetic parameters of shielding materials at low frequencies based upon shielding measurements. The method is applied to compute the electric conductivity and magnetic permeability of several long cylinders which are made of aluminum, Amumetal, and Conetic-AA, respectively. The results are consistent with their published data and show the application potential of the method.
