Descriptions and evaluations are included of modifications to be made to the VBWR installation to obtain information contributing to the development of safer, more efficient and more economical boiling-water reactor power plants. Sufficient changes are proposed that the accident analyses have of necessity changed from those of previous editions, but analyses of the maximum credible accident and other severe hypothetical accidents are essentially unchanged. Other changes made reflect changes in plant design and procedures resulting from the modifications. All pertinent information describing the VBWR is consolidated including technical specifications, process description, facility description, instrumentation, operating procedures, site characteristics and description, safety analysis, waste disposal, and special experimental facilities.
