The /sup 117/Cd activity produced by (n, gamma ) reaction on /sup 116/Cd was found to decay with a half life of approximates 3 h indicating that the possible isomer also has a half life almost equal to that of the ground state. The presence of such an isomer was established by beta-gamma coincidence measurements. The highest energy beta group as studied in the intermediate image beta-ray spectrometer showed an end point of 2250 kev. The singles gamma spectrum was complex in nature and extended up to 2450 kev. Beta-gamma and gammagamma coincidence studies revealed 29 gamma transitions and eight beta groups belonging to the decay of both activities of /sup 117/Cd. Based on these and the results of sum coincidence and total absorption studies a decay scheme with levels in /sup 117/In at 310, 590, 660, 750, 880, 1070, 1410, 1700, spins and parities for these levels are discussed.
