A large iron-core double-focusing beta -ray spectrometer with a mean radius of 50 cm is adapted for coincidence experirnents involving electrons. It is shown that satisfactory protection of the photomultipliers from the magnetic field can be obtained by means of a local fleld compensation with suitable Helnkoltz coils. Some examples of applications are given. The doppler sbift of the Th (B + C + C") A-line due to the alpha -decay of Bi/sup 212/ is demonstrated. Some alpha - e/sup -/ and gamma - e/sup -/ directional correlations are measured. (auth)
