Fourier transform infrared study of the effects of irradiation on polyethylene

Journal Article · · J. Polym. Sci., Polym. Phys. Ed., v. 13, pp. 815-824
Fourier transform infrared spectra were obtained for polyethylene $gamma$-irradiated in oxygen and nitrogen atmospheres. The spectra before and after irradiation were compared by digital subtraction. The difference spectra are indicative of changes caused by irradiation. Crosslinking and chain scission reactions produce the observed changes. (auth)
