Hydrophilic alcohols (2-propanol, 1-butanol, and 2-butanol) have been evaluated as extractants in the recovery of phenol and nitroanilines from aqueous salt solutions. Efficient extraction systems are proposed for concentration in analytical control of aromatic toxicants in wastewater, giving 94-97% extraction of phenol and nitroanilines from aqueous solution.
