A method for calculating the anisotropy of x-ray moduli of elasticity in problems of x-ray tensometry of polycrystals using the pole density of the inverse pole figure as a weight function is suggested. Elastic macroscopic strain is shown to be an order of magnitude less than the total residual strain in cold-rolled sheets of steel 21 due to the stresses generated by excess plastic deformation. Physical line broadening for the investigated sheets of steel 21 is shown to depend on x-ray scattering on edge dislocations.
