A 28 GHz CW gyrotron with a permanent magnet system

Conference ·
OSTI ID:391230
A 28 GHz, TE{sub 02} mode, CW gyrotron with a permanent magnet system was designed, constructed, and tested. The permanent magnet system generated the axial magnetic field of about 5.2 kG which is required to generate the 28 GHz oscillation at the second cyclotron harmonic. Supplementary coils were wound directly on the gyrotron to adjust the main and the electron gun magnetic fields. In a CW test, an output power of 10 kW was obtained with an efficiency of 30.8%.
