The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) and its collaborators have developed a new program with a unique implementation mechanism designed to reach multiple government organizations in a cost-efficient manner. The program employs the concept of a Workshop in a Box, which enables maximum replicability and education in multiple states. The initial version of the box is entitled PARK POWER: Using Solar Energy for Public Spaces, and is targeted for state and local Parks Departments. The box is a self-contained set of tools and information that will be used by a locally-established, professionally-trained field network to conduct any number of workshops in a state for many different levels of interest. The Workshop in a Box (WIAB) Program will use agency-targeted information and local approaches to provide on-site advocacy, technical assistance and follow-up, and to assure that the right information gets to the right people.
