Hadron distribution at target rapidity in AGS Si+Pb collisions
We present hadron on distributions and ratios around target rapidity taken with the backward scintillator telescope of E877. The present setup corresponds to a pseudo-rapidity range of -1.06 {le} {eta} {le} -1.18. We discuss transverse momentum distributions and particle ratios for identified pions, protons and deuterons in the reaction {sup 28}Si + Pb at E{sub lab}/A=14.6 GeV. The yield of target rapidity protons fits into the systematics established by measurements of E859, E814 and E810 for forward baryons. The slope of the proton and pion transverse momentum spectra is also in agreement with the rapidity dependence of the slope parameter measured by E866 for non target rapidity protons. The ratio of protons to pions and deuterons shows some dependence on the centrality of the reaction. An analysis to interpret the p/d ratio in terms of a statistical model and {pi}/d ratio in terms of rescattering processes in the target will be addressed.
