Measurement of magnetic moments of high spin states in {sup 193,194}Hg

Journal Article · · Bulletin of the American Physical Society
OSTI ID:387117

A transient fiel experiment has been carried out on the EUROGAM array at Daresbury. The goal of the experiment was to explore the feasibility of measuring magnetic moments of superdefornied bands. The reaction {sup 150}Nd({sup 48}Ca,xn){sup 193,194}Hg at 205 MeV was used. The target was backed by a gadolinium/lead foil kept at 80K. The intensity of the superdeformed bands was too low for g-factor measurements. However, the yield of normal transitions was adequate. The analysis is in progress and the results will be reported.
