Forward-Angle {sup {bold 3}}He{bold (}{ital e},{ital e}{sup {bold {prime}}}{bold {pi}}{sup {bold {plus_minus}}}{bold )} Coincident Electroproduction and the Search for {bold {Delta}`s} in the Ground State of {sup {bold 3}}He
Forward-angle coincident electroproduction cross sections of charged pions from {sup 3}He have been measured at electron energies {ital E}{sub 0}=855, 675, 600, and 555 MeV. The overall features of the data for energy transfers of {omega}=370 to 430 MeV with pions detected along the momentum transfer axis are reproduced in terms of a microscopic model, including pole terms, final state rescattering and produced and preformed {Delta} resonances. Separation of the cross section into its longitudinal and transverse parts was performed at {ital Q}{sup 2}=0.045(GeV/{ital c}){sup 2}. The longitudinal part of the cross section in the {pi}{sup +} channel does not contradict with the assumption of a preformed {Delta}{sup ++}. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
