We critically discuss the recent analysis of strangeness production in nuclear collisions at 200{ital A} GeV/{ital c} performed by Topor Pop {ital et} {ital al}. We point out various problems in connection with the interpretation of the data and the numerical model results. We also argue that the term {open_quote}{open_quote}strangeness enhancement{close_quote}{close_quote} is used in a misleading way. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
