The New York Power Authority and its research partners are completing implementation of an expert on-line condition-monitoring system at the 1,040-MW Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Station. The system already has helped utility managers diagnose machine imbalances before they caused damage, and is expected to save tens of thousands of dollars each year reduced maintenance expenses, improved operations and avoided losses of revenue.
