This report describes the effects of antimitotic drugs on cell cycle when administered in quantities which maintain the spindle structure of microtubules. This research was carried out using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the antimitotic drug nocodazole. Results show that a low concentration of nocodazole induces a cell cycle delay that is sensitive to impaired kinetochore function under the control of previously identified mitotic checkpoint genes. 40 refs., 6 figs., 4 tabs.
