Minimal risk of carbon monoxide exposure with oil heat: Part II

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a hazardous gas that can be produced as a byproduct of burning fuels that are commonly used in homes. The risk of exposure to dangerous levels of CO is minimal with home heating oil when the heating equipment is properly adjusted and maintained regularly. The public should be alerted to the potential risk from elevated carbon monoxide levels in their home, and how these risks can be reduced. A summary of key points is presented.
