Complete residential AMR is Rock Falls` goal

Dogs, fences and customers` desire for greater privacy are pushing the city of Rock Falls, Illinois, into automatic meter reading. Despite annoying technical problems, the city`s electric utility plans to install AMR equipment for all 5,000 of its residential customers within the next five years. The utility began experimenting with AMR four years ago, when it installed meter interface units on 200 meters at residences where meter reader access was limited.
