The use of mortars based on portland cement and epoxy resins to repair corroded reinforced concrete structures was evaluated by electrochemical techniques. The effect of surface preparation also was studied. Steel potentials were measured daily. Additionally, the degree of steel corrosion by linear polarization was measured at different stages of the process. When indications of corrosion were detected, the surface was repaired. The blocks were subjected once more to the aggressive medium to evaluate the repair method. The results indicate that contaminated concrete must be removed for optimum performance. It also was found that the behavior of blocks repaired with mortars based on epoxy resins depend on exposure to sunlight.
