Direct J/{psi} production in e{sup +}e{sup -} collisions

The authors are investigating the production mechanism for the inclusive reaction e{sup +}e{sup {minus}} {yields} J/{psi}X. With about 3 fb{sup {minus}1} data collected at the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, CESR, the authors have found a yield of about 200 events. The J/{psi} are extracted from the data set taken at the {Upsilon}(4S) by imposing a minimum momentum cut suppressing J/{psi} mesons coming from B decays. They also used the data set taken slightly below the {Upsilon}(4S), which is free from B mesons. Various distributions were plotted and compared with a recent theoretical prediction.
