The authors present semi-inclusive spin asymmetries measured in deep inelastic scattering of 100-190 GeV longitudinally polarized muons from longitudinally polarized protons and deuterons. From these asymmetries the polarized distribution functions of up and down valence quarks and non-strange sea quarks in the range 0.006< X <0.6 are determined. The polarization of the up quarks is found to be positive, while the down quarks show a negative polarization. The polarization of the non-strange sea is found to be small and compatible with zero.
