Polyelectrolytes are candidates for organic batteries and synthetic membrane materials. Our approach lo polyelectrolytes involves the synthesis and study of novel anionic polymers. Novak and Grubbs first established ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) in water solutions as a method of forming low polydispersity, stable polymers with semirigid backbone structures.
