Businesses, including utilities, are increasingly using the World Wide Web to communicate with and provide services to their customers. Providing interactive bill disaggregation is one example of this. Web-based bill disaggregation enables the utility customer to ascertain information about their home and energy use patterns. Programs then use this information coupled with a customer`s utility bills to provide a breakdown of where energy dollars are being spent. Currently four vendors offer bill disaggregation software that operates via the Internet, and several others are developing tools that will be available soon. This report describes the four available products and evaluates each of them based on user interface, accuracy, and presentation of results. This report will be useful to utilities interested in offering an on-line bill disaggregation service to their customers, help identify the tool or type of tool that best suits customer needs, and show potential areas of concern.
