The National Energy Board is an independent federal regulatory agency with jurisdiction over the export of electricity from Canada, the construction and operation of international power lines, and interprovincial power lines designated as being under federal jurisdiction. This bulletin explains the Board`s responsibilities with regard to the regulation of electricity in Canada. It includes information on the process carried out when filing an application for electricity exports or power lines, the types of applications, information requirements, monitoring and surveillance, and publications.
