Ambient air precision and accuracy program. 1996 annual report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:350430

A review of the annual 1996 data for five of the six criteria pollutants (lead excluded): Ozone (O{sub 3}); Sulfur Dioxide (SO{sub 2}); Carbon Monoxide (CO); Nitrogen Dioxide (NO{sub 2}); and Particles (PM10) was performed on the precision and accuracy data for reporting organizations as submitted to the EPA`s Aerometric Information Retrieval System (AIRS) database. This review yielded a national average with upper and lower probability limits for each pollutant which holds 95% of the stations data. A national review revealed that the overall quality of the nation`s ambient air monitoring data was within acceptable guidelines. A review of the 1996 annual precision and accuracy data was also performed. This document fulfills the requirement within the 40 CFR Part 58 Appendix A for an annual report concerning the precision and accuracy data submitted to the EPA from the state and local agencies.
