Operation researches of 150 t/d pilot plant for bituminous coal liquefaction

Operation of the 150 t/d NEDOL bituminous coal liquefaction pilot plant (PP) had started in March 1997. Three coal-in operations, a total of 134 days, were successfully completed. During the operations, performance of the process was evaluated, and a variety of engineering data was acquired. High-activated liquefaction catalyst (pyrite fine powder) and hydrogen-donor solvent resulted in high oil yield (58 wt% of dry, ash-free coal basis). Characteristics of the catalyst and recycle solvent in the 150 t/d PP will be presented in this report.
