The jig has always been the main equipment in coal washeries, and its separation accuracy is normally decided by two aspects: one is the stratification effectiveness of the bed; and another is the balance of the refuse discharge. Although great development has been obtained in automatic control of the refuse discharge system in recent years, what needs to be determined is how to measure and control the parameters which influence the pulsating flow. To measure the pulsating parameters such as velocity, acceleration and bed porosity in an air-pulsated jig, one measuring circuit is developed. According to the measuring waveforms, some interesting phenomena are revealed and discussed.
