Foster Wheeler has designed, erected and operated several circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) boilers in the continental US firing a variety of waste fuels in addition to conventional coals. These waste fuels include anthracite culm, petroleum coke and automobile-tire-derived fuel. These units have operated for many years with superior performance records characterized by high availability levels and low maintenance requirements.
