The magnetic hyperfine splitting frequencies of (i) {sup 57}Ni in Fe ({sup 57}Ni{ital Fe}), (ii) {sup 57}Ni in Ni ({sup 57}Ni{ital Ni}), and (iii) {sup 59}Fe in Fe ({sup 59}Fe{ital Fe}) were measured with the technique of nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei (NMR-ON) at low temperatures. The NMR-ON spectra were observed by detecting the {beta}-ray asymmetries. The resonance frequencies at zero external magnetic field were deduced from the extrapolation of the external field dependence of the resonance frequencies: {nu}({sup 57}Ni{ital Fe})=94.23(2) MHz, {nu}({sup 57}Ni{ital Ni})=30.02(4) MHz, and {nu}({sup 59}Fe{ital Fe})=57.719(11) MHz. With the known hyperfine fields of {ital B}{sub HF}(Ni{ital Ni})={minus}7.406(8) T and {ital B}{sub HF}(Fe{ital Fe})={minus}33.82(3) T, the magnetic moments of {sup 57}Ni and {sup 59}Fe were determined to be {mu}({sup 57}Ni)={minus}0.7975(14){mu}{sub {ital N}} and {mu}({sup 59}Fe)={minus}0.3358(4){mu}{sub {ital N}}. The precise value of the hyperfine field of {ital B}{sub HF}({sup 57}Ni{ital Fe}) was also deduced as {minus}23.25(5) T. The measured values of the magnetic moment are compared with those based on the shell model. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
