  1. Menasha Electric and Water Utilities, WI (United States)
Menasha Electric and Water Utilities (MEWU), which serves the City of Menasha, Wisconsin, has an annual peak demand of approximately 80 MW, and serves approximately 60 large commercial and industrial customers. These large customers account for about 80% of MEWU`s peak demand, and 78% of MEWU`s operating revenues. MEWU has long recognized the importance of these customers to the financial health of the Utility, and the economic well being of the community. Increasing retail load competition has caused MEWU to broaden its large customer-related activities. The competitive forces at play in the Menasha region, and MEWU`s efforts, both independently and in conjunction with Wisconsin Public Power Inc. SYSTEM (WPPI), to retain and expand MEWU`s large customer base are discussed.
