Elastic scattering of excited muonic hydrogen

Total elastic and transport cross sections for the ({ital p}{mu}){sub {ital n}}{sup {asterisk}}+{ital p}, ({ital d}{mu}){sub {ital n}}{sup {asterisk}}+{ital d}, and ({ital t}{mu}){sub {ital n}}{sup {asterisk}}+{ital t} systems ({ital n} is the principal quantum number) are calculated in the energy range 0.04{le}{ital E}{le}10 eV using the classical and quasiclassical approach. Electron screening is taken into account. The obtained elastic cross sections are large, especially for small {ital E}. The experimental methods of measuring these cross sections are discussed. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}
